CIEE & ICE´s Work and Travel USA program is for university students that want to live de unforgettable experience of working at national parks, amusement parks, hotels, resorts, restaurants, etc. during the summer.

It´s an opportunity offered by the intercultural exchange J1 visa that allows you to work while you travel and explore the United States. And at the same time you will practice your leadership abilities, meet people from all around the world and improve your English.

Every year, more than 15,000 Work & Travel USA students work at all kinds of CIEE sourced seasonal jobs in locations across the United States. These jobs meet CIEE´s high standards to ensure a good workplace experience.

Application process

Fill up the enrollment form:

Once you´ve completed the enrollment form one of our advisors will get in touch with you to follow up with your application and answer any questions you may have.

Interview with your advisor:

Your personal advisor will get in touch with you to set up an interview, learn more about yourself and tell you everything about the different places and employers you can choose from.

Complete your application:

You are going to fill up an online application, all the paperwork which your advisor will hand out to you and depending on your employer you´ll have an online interview with them.

Embassy appointment:

Once we issue your DS 2019 form, you´ll request an appointment at the embassy. Don´t worry, we know everything about the process and requirements in order to have a successful appointment.

Your adventure begins:

Once you get your visa approved and set up your departure dates, you´ll travel to your summer destiny and begin one of the best summers of your life. Your personal advisor will be in touch at all times.

What´s included?

Job agreement with one of an employer in the United States.

Advice through the whole process and necessary documentation n order to get the J1 visa.

SEVIS Fee.

Advice and orientation prior to your travels in order to be prepared and answer all the questions you may have.

International medical insurance for the length of your program.

24 hours 7 days a week emergency hot line service from the insurance company, as well as constant communication with ICE team members.

30 days to travel around the USA either before or after your summer job.

Plus, you´ll get a salary of between 8 and 10 USD an hour and work approximately 35 hours a week.

Remember that in order to participate in the program you´ll have to incur in some expenses, and also remember that the salary you´ll be getting will allow you to compensate those expenses and give you the opportunity to travel and explore the United States.
